Cityscapes on Canvas
Aidan O’Rourke is a photographer, writer and website publisher based in Manchester. Since 1996 he has been documenting the changing face of Manchester in photos and articles.
He has documented practically every street in Manchester city centre along with most major buildings, old and new, including many that have disappeared. He has been interviewed on radio and tv and co-authored the book ‘Around the M60 Manchester’s Orbital Motoway’ including 70 of his photos.
Aidan’s Manchester cityscapes are among the most popular and sought after in the collection, capturing Manchester’s changing and surprisingly dramatic skyline. They are taken from tall buildings, rooftops, hills, bridges and even a hot air balloon. Most are composite panoramic images made by taking a series of overlapping photos, then merging them in Photoshop. This results in a very large file with superb detail, even when blown up to a large size.
Aidan continues to photograph the Manchester skyline, and is planning even bigger and better cityscapes. To see more photos by Aidan O’Rourke, go to his site www.aidan.co.uk
