FAQ’s
We realise that ordering a canvas can be a little confusing, especially if you haven’t ordered one before. We have tried to cover every possible question that you might have. However, please do not hesitate to email or call if there is anything you are not sure about.
How big does my digital image need to be?
This all depends on how big you want your canvas to be. We recommend that an image needs to be at least 500kb for the best results. When you send you image to us, the first thing we do is check that your image has the resolution to go to the size you would like. We will come back to you asap and let you know if that is the case.
TIP: When taking photos, make sure your camera is set to the maximum resolution. This is usually shown as S, M & L. L being the largest resolution setting.
What type of canvas do you use?
We use a 415gsm cotton/polyester mix canvas. This type of canvas ensures that when the canvas is stretched over the frame, the print remains taut and will not sag. We import our canvas from the USA and is the best canvas on the market.
Which colour profile do you work in?
Adobe RGB (1998). Please supply images in RGB rather than CMYK, RGB has much wider colour gamut therefore will achieve much better colour reproduction.
What do you use to make the canvas frames?
We make our frames from Kiln Dried Redwood which is from a sustainable source. We offer 2 depths of frame 35mm & 45mm.
How do you print the canvases?
We use a Canon IPF8000 printer. Which uses 12 colours (including 3 blacks). The type of print is known as inkjet (or giclee, which is french for squirt) The canvas is set onto a roll and is fed through the printer. The printer uses 2 print heads, each of which uses 6 colours to make up the total of 12. The ink effectively squirts through thousands of tiny nozzles.
What dpi do you print to?
2400dpi
